I think the most important thing to do in this situation is *before*
promoting Linux as an alternative to ensure that they have staff capable
of performing day-to-day administration of the system, especially given
that it appears that it's going to be directly connected to the
Internet.
My assumption would be, given that you say they are a small
organisation, that they don't. What happens two, three or six months
down the track, when a remote root vulnerability is discovered in the
MTA that has been installed for them?
I think this is something that many people forget when embarking on
linux advocacy missions.

Help!
I am trying to persuade a small organisation not to accept the following
proposed 'solution' to their file server needs:
"The server, with Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 - Premium
Edition,
would provide the following services:
-Internet Connectivity and Security - Microsoft ISA Server
-User Security and Authentication - Microsoft Active Directory
-File and Print Services - Microsoft Windows Server 2003
-Local and Internet Email - Microsoft Exchange Server 2003
-SQL Database - Microsoft SQL Server 2000"
Would those of you who are used to dealing with businesses like to
propose
a linux 'solution' to this organisation. By "used to dealing with
businesses" I mean able to provide an appropriate business like front to
persuade any corporate type that you are a serious contender, and
understand how they look at the world. (ie if you do this sort of thing
for a living it would help!).
