Um, neither should a well set up Windows system. Some of mine I
haven't touched for ages except for patches. Patches would also be
needed for a Linux system.

Well, yes. To the same extent as a Linux security update. I recall one
OpenSSH problem that needed three goes before it was fixed.

That's a bit bogus. You can do anything in either if it's fairly
mainstream. Esoteric stuff needs the right platform.
