Finally having worked down to your original post....

If you look at www.agate.co.nz, click on pricelist (then down to the tape
storage blue triangle) on the top menu bar, you can get an idea as to what is
around & what it will cost. I believe you'll need to be a dealer with an
account there to purchase (which I do have :-), or you might give Silicon a
call & see what they can offer. As the major sponsor of the installfest, just
say you are from WLUG & can they suggest something- they may even have used
hardware from a client (it turns up from upgrades, etc, & can be fine), & may
give some warranty or support with the used gear.

Agate/Datastor are one of the larger suppliers of backup hardware around, & do
carry a range of formats & brands. Most others tend to carry a single brand
rather than specialise in storage related devices.
