You can use it to check other pop and imap accounts,
putting the mail into your yahoo mailbox, but I don't
think you can get mail out of yahoo via pop or imap.

When you think about it, yahoo wouldn't want you to
access your mail except through the web interface, so
that they can bombard you with advertising.

If you're going to go with yahoo, I recommend
yahoo.co.in, since they have the most amusing ads.
