Hi

it should just pick it up.  When you get to the page that says what port 
to use the printer should be identified in the list

i.e.  USB printer #1 (HP deskjet840)

If you dont see anything like this then check that usb is loading and 
usb printing is being loaded by the kernel.

the kernel should log the fact that a printer is connected to the usb 
and load everything automaticaly.
 I take it that your printer is supported by Linux ?
