Hear hear! Linux itself came to be without a committee or formal
structure. WTF do we need it?

Hi Tony, I'm not sure if this helps but I'm running OO1.1 on woody.
Instead of pinning to sid, I try to use backports. The OO backport that
I'm using is:

#debian OOo test backport (i386 only)
deb http://ftp.freenet.de/pub/debian-openoffice/ woody-test main contrib

searching on Japanese language packs....

floyd:/home/jamie# apt-cache search openoffice japanese
openoffice.org-l10n-ja - Japanese language package for openoffice.org

Mess around with tools-options-language settings - languages from the OO
writer app may do what you need.
