[wellylug] Mandrake for Athlon64

There are known SATA issues, depending on chipset. At the moment SATA is
outside the budget anyway so it's not an issue. Maybe an upgrade when v10 comes
out with everything fixed (yeah- right :-) Given my heavy RDBMS role for the
box, a 10K RPM SATA drive should make quite a difference, tho the full 2Gb RAM
I want to install should help minimise disk reads.

I have 1Gb in my current Shuttle. 1.5Gb in my desktop & have been involved with
a couple of 2Gb graphics workstations. Up to 4Gb in some 64 bit RISC servers.
One can get blase about it :-)

I'm looking to use a single 1Gb module to leave room for the other one later
:-) Given the single channel 64bit bus in the nForce 150 vs the dual nForce2
chipset, I don't need to install memory in matched pairs.

At $400 odd for a 1Gb DDR400 module, I think AMD's 64 bit cpu will create some
large memory boxes at pretty cheap prices, causing some chagrin at Intel. And
possibly Microsoft if they can't support it soon.

Some benchmarks I've heard about suggest Postgres SCREAMS in full 64 bit mode,
& I wanna find out :-) I have a spatial analysis I need to do for work (which
I'm using Postgres for), & want to run it on a dual Xeon there & compare with
the A64.

& 640K is enuff for anyone :-)
