you can use a program called qtparted a graphical partition magic clone.
One way to get this is on a SystemRescue live CD (about a 100Mb download
for the CD iso but has a number of other utilities) or you could back it
up to an image on another drive to restore later.

this could be a user / device permisions issue, see if it works when
you're logged on as root. You may need to add "noauth" to the kppp
script, or if you're using a latter version of the kernel it may need an
updated driver.
