I guess you use your computer for different tasks than I do.  I use both
Gnome and KDE applications.  I find KDE's io-slaves substantially
increase my productivity in a networked environment.  Gnome doesn't yet
have the outstanding ability that KDE does for opening, editing and
browsing files over SSH through konqueror and the open / save dialogue
windows.  Perhaps you have no use for this, but some of us do.  And
Quanta Plus is an awesome program.  KDE programs run just fine in my
Gnome desktop.
