Does anyone know if I can make it .evolution and have it still work?

I was talking to a friend who is on the Evo. mail list, and he was
saying that they dont, because they consider . folders to be used for
configuration, and the evo folder contains more than just config files.

However, me and my "Clean Desktop / Clean Desk" policy have come to
nearing the end of the line with the fact that I have a folder in my
home directory called evolution, that contains data, that I am never
going to touch anyway..

Just wondered if it would cause any issues, or if anyone has done it..

And no .....

I dont want to change e-mail clients, I like Evolution ... just not the
attitude of the developers and there instantness to keep a folder in
your home directory  that is essentially useless.....
