NOTE: This is a one-off posting at the request of the organising
not-a-committee (and approved by me as list manager) since we feel
that Wellylug members need to be kept informed and this is the
most direct way to do so.

As some of you may be aware Wellylug purchased an external USB/Firewire
drive caddy last year. For a while this had a drive loaned by Jamie
Dobbs in it with various Linux distributions and other software on it
for people to copy at meetings.

Due to people having difficulty finding/using the drive caddy at
meetings, the loaned hard drive being wanted back, and all the files
that were on the drive being put onto a file server on Citylink (thanks to
Simon Blake) the not-a-committee has decided not to replace the hard
drive that was in the caddy and instead to sell the caddy off. (For
anyone that cares the wlug_org mailing list archives have the detail of
the discussion: http://lists.naos.co.nz/pipermail/wlug_org/).

Some Wellylug members have indicated they would be interested in
purchasing it. In order to find a fair price for it, the drive caddy
has been listed on Trademe:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/auction_detail.asp?id=13789749

for seven days, and anyone who is interested in it can bid on it
(Wellylug and non-Wellylug members alike). Any money from the sale will
go back to Wellylug to be used for the group (since donations to the
group paid for it in the first place). (I'm donating the "auction
success fee" that Trademe charges to the group.)

If you have questions about the drive caddy please use the Trademe
question/answer system. If you have questions about why it is being
sold the wlug_org mailing list is probably the best place.

Ewen
