Hi

Thanks for replying

I disabled usb in the bios which stopped the module from loading but it
still continued to splat itself.

It now appears that the motherboard may be faulty

I can't really blame Debian for that I suppose :)

You can try turning off usb detection using a boot
parameter.

I _believe_ a "nousb" parameter will disable usb
entirely.

When installing for the first time, you can use:
debian-installer/probe/usb=false

Also, are you sure the RAM is okay in that machine?
I'm wondering, given the call trace, whether the
machine is running out of memory.  If true, this could
be due to something screwy in the usb_uhci module, or
something with the hardware.
