Don't forget printerdrake.  But I forget how many options that had for
networking stuff in 9.0

Printerdrake seemed to work quite well as far as getting the printer set up
and going on the local machine.
I had problems with an older parallel-attached printer through CUPS getting
lost. Now I use a USB connection the problem has disappeared. 
Anyway under 9.1 I found that after setting up the printer I could print to
it, but if I wanted to fine tune it I had to go into CUPS (via browser IP
port 901) and check the printer settings there as well. Once set up and
tested things continued to work well, but I still get a considerable delay
between hitting print and the printer waking up. Still to resolve that one.
