[wellylug] VPN connected sites

Not specifically Linux related but you are all a knowledgable bunch.

I am looking at setting up a VERY low cost networking solution between 
Auckland and Wellington for a small organisation.

My plan is to use CityLink Connect4 (4Mb/s) out of Wellington on an 
unlimited national internet traffic plan. At the other end I'll have 
aWhoosh wireless connection providing 256Kb/s.

I was going to get some basic Linksys devices to run a dedicated VPN 
tunnel between the two sites and only go out to the Internet at large 
via the Citylink connection. I'm intending to use the linksys devices as 
I want support costs to be low, so if there is a problem then a simple 
reset will et them running again.

This should provide a low & stable cost solution for a cost of $1,000 
setup and ongoing just under $300/month incl GST.

At this stage there is no need for an internal DNS or anything else. The 
key app that needs the WAN type connection can be IP assigned so this 
really is a very simple setup.

Has anyone done anything similar to this and can advise me of any gotchas?
