[wellylug] Gforge & Windows network

Hi,

I'm trying to set up Gforge on our network at work. I've done the
install, and now I can connect to the gforge installation, but
intermittently, the site can't be seen - I get a 404 instead.

This is a Debian Woody install in a network of Windows XP & 2000
machines. They've given it a static IP. I first put CVS on it, as the
NT port of CVS is reported to be buggy, and that offered some outages as
well, but we're not using it yet (largely because of that), so I don't
have comprehensive stats on it.

I tried a different network card, and now I'm using a different computer
entirely, but getting this same effect.

We haven't dug into it deeply yet. I don't know much about Windows
networks, and everybody is very busy. I thought I'd ask here if anyone
had an "aha!" about this, or a pointer to a good online discussion about
mixed Windows/Linux networks, especially when it's the Windows that's
handling the routing, DNS, mail, etc.

If anyone is knowledgeable about gforge, I'll have some questions about
that, but first I think I need to make this reliable. Or is that a
gforge configuration issue?

Regards,
Bret
