The book "No Logo" by Naomi Klein is probably the best place to start.
Basically Starbucks use their giant buying power to rip off the cheapest
coffee from the poorest growers in the poorest countries of the world, and
hock it to you in nasty non-recyclable plastic cups at just enough to undercut
everyone else in town.

Most other cafes use Havana, Supreme or similar, which are Fair Trade coffees.

Besides, it's like going to McDonalds - why bother eating nasty plastic junk
when there are loads of nice cheap restaurants available with much better food?

This is a whole non-Linux related, lefty environmentalist can-O-worms so I'll
stop here :-)

Cheers,
J
