It talks about recruiters, and I know of no recruiter who would give you
the time of day if you sent them an OpenOffice document, or a PDF, etc.
Sure, if you're in direct contact with a place you know to be very open
source friendly (and their HR people are, that's the important part, not
just what the geeks run), then by all means tailor to suit.
But as much as it pains me to say, he's right on the money: sending in
formats other than Word is a quick way to get eliminated by HR/Recruiters.
