Those qualities which you like are the ones that I distinctly dislike.
Firstly, they are a graphical format, that can't be changed. Even
(gulp) Word documents can be changed with a couple of clicks. PDFs are
rigid and inflexible - If I want to read a document in (cough) MS
Comic Sans Serif, I should be able to do so.
The advantage of MS Word or WordPerfect or OO or AbiWord is that it is
basically text prettied up a bit. It's not the full, fixed graphical
hog.
PDF is nailed down take it or leave it, and dictates to me how I read
it. That's not what freedom of choice is about. And I want to choose
how I read things.
