[wellylug] Boot up failures with Mnd 10

Hi all

I wonder if anyone using mandrake 10 has had this problem:

When I boot up it occasionally freezes at the blue screen prior to the
login screen.  All I am left with is a cross in the middle of the
screen.

However, I can access a terminal window with Cont/Alt/F2 and can login
as either myself or root.  I am however at a loss as how to continue to
load the KDE GUI which presumably would permit me to continue as though
nothing had happened.  Can anyone please tell me what to write on the
command line to continue so that I don´t have to reboot by turning the
computer off and on again.

Incidentally I have booted up in verbose mode and everything always
seems to go OK - but then it has never chosen those times to freeze!!
