[wellylug] Gentoo - how do you install it?

i got an ageing laptop i'd like to try gentoo on.
i went through gentoo.org, choose "Get Gentoo", found a list of mirrors and 
ended up at ftp://planetmirror.com/pub/gentoo/

i downloaded and burned 
releases/x86/2004.2/livecd/install-x86-universal-2004.2.iso

It boots, i choose the 'gentoo' keynal, and then it gives me a root command 
prompt - what next??? 

this is all very scarey stuff for a mandrake user.
