While I do agree with your amended comment, I prefer "complexity & flexibility"
to "obscurity". To offer more power to the user generally requires something
more complex, all too often arcane or obscure, but not necessarily.

Of course, not everyone always wants or needs power/complexity.

Editors are a good example....
