I knew that already.  :-)

But you can have data runs up to and over 200 metres (using Cat5E and they
do work. Just that you get speed drops (massive pack re-sends as well) due
to the length.

I wouldn't recommend over 90 metres for any data run which gives you 10
metres for the 2 patch cables.

You could, but it wouldn't work.

The total length that any CAT5 run (or 5E/6 for that matter) is 100M, that
includes all switches/hubs etc. in the run so realistically max run length
is approx 95-98 metres.
