Well, just a comment about the current poll...
I've met Linus Torvalds. Worked at Transmeta while he was there.
He's one of the nicest guys and average everyday people I've ever met.
Totally human, not stuck up, snobbish, or holier-than-thou.
While I worked at Linuxcare, Richard Stallman dropped by one day. I
was curious, but the guy was an instant turn-off. Total stoner.
There was just something about him that really made my skin crawl.
That and hearing him do the introduction before the keynote (that
Linus gave) at Linuxworld one year. Ugh. I have no desire to meet
this man.
I could say Creator of my Favourite Distro, but I've met him, too.
Well, sort of. He was in the Gentoo Booth while I was there at
Linuxworld SF this year. Seemed like a nice enough guy. But I was
too busy talking to one of the Gentoo Developers to say much to him.
;)
So that leaves Bill Gates. He's the only one left on the list that
I'd really like to meet. I've seen interviews with him, watched news
reports, etc, but never met him. I have no idea what I'd say to him,
but I certainly wouldn't give him too much greif. Of course, I'd
probably ask him whether or not he's used Linux, Solaris, BSD or BeOS,
and what his impressions were from an end-user standpoint. I might
also ask him why WindowsXP just isn't as easy to use for some
power-users as *nix is. Dunno. But he's the one I'd most like to
meet.
Just my 2c worth. Let me put on my flame-retardant suit before y'all
get started.
