You can buy adapters from the SVGA D-15 connectors used on PC monitors
to the 13W3 connectors used on SGI, Sun, etc, monitors. Any reasonable
multisync monitor will then work.

Connect up a (null modem) serial cable to the first serial port,
configure a terminal program for 9600 bps, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stopbit
(9600 8n1) and fire the Indy up without a keyboard connected. The Indy
(as with most other unix computers) will default to serial console if
there is no keyboard connected.

BTW, the serial port on several SGI machines is same as the serial port
on older Macs (round 8-pin DIN connector, same pinout) so a "Mac modem"
adapter cable, and a null modem adapter cable, joined together, will do
the trick. You may need to disable flow control and/or carrier detect.

PS: The Indy will run Linux -- IIRC there's details on SGI's website
    about how to do so.
