I finally got the wireless working on my laptop yesterday ( reverted
to a previous version of linux-wlan-ng ) and am again happy with
Debian on my laptop.  One thing I've found with this particular
machine is that it tends to run longer on battery than it did with
Windows.

Debian has a lot of software available for it.  You can also install
it using six floppy disks and a high-speed connection.  I'd suggest
the BF24 disks until Sarge is released...
