These days, a Mac is just another unix box with a different gui. I've 
bought mine primarily for video editing/processing, which is an area 
where Linux is weak, where up to now I've had to use Windows. There was 
a good deal on Final Cut that, in the end, tipped the scales. Macs are 
more expensive, but the design and build quality are amazing.
