[wellylug] X screen resolution

Hi all, I've recently installed Debian Woody (kernel 2.4), and after
eventually getting X to start I am stuck with a 640x480 resolution, which is
extremely annoying. It is the same res whether I start from gdm, kdm or
startx, and whether I go into Gnome, KDE or Enlightenment.
My XF86Config-4 file contains only one resolution section (I can't post the
code, because I'm at work) with the line MODES "1024x768" "800x600"
"640x480". I have tried removing everything except "1024x768", and all sorts
of variations, no luck. I have also tried using the control centre programs
in KDE and Gnome, but Gnome's one doesn't seem to have installed and the KDE
with Woody is a much older version than the one that came with my Fedora
Core 1.0 distro and doesn't seem to want to help me. It does say it is using
640x480 resolution though. Helpful.
Does anyone have any clues about this?

     Nick
