Hello Abhinav Keswani :
Ok after checking I am in full duplex .... on all machines..; so far so good.
Ifconfig -a does not return errors on any of them...
LAN config is really simple: 5 machines on the switch with static IPs ...
mii-tool is Ok ....
eth0: negotiated 100baseTx-FD flow-control, link ok
arp -a
give me nothing on the misbehaving machine
On other Pcs the switch never appears and returns various outputs (some PC are
here not others), but all machines but one are connecting Ok on the switch
and access each other + internet through an Ipcop machine...

Yep I got it thanks .. a 3com 3300, they do not tell much reallly... will give
them a calll.. there is a 0800 number

I am starting to wonder if my eth card is reallly working...
if the arp cache of the switch is not cleared for other machines why should
they work ?
Thing is that I probably over heated my PC by running 4 mpeg2 encoding and the
thing did shutt off by itself ... since then...
Anyway I will give a go at DSE to get a new card and see what happens... and
this machine is for an upgrade so ... that is the opportunity (read good
excuse) I was missing ..
Cheers
