OK, from the NZLUG archives, NZOSS represented itself as 
follows "The point of the NZOSS was to create a reputable 
and 'professional' organisation with which to advocate open 
source in a credible way".

The implication was that the LUGs were neither reputable nor 
  'professional' and that they could not advocate open 
source in a credible way.
