could replied please be directed to rick.deb at paradise.net.nz as i seem to have 
trouble sometimes with the list site and teh work server thing deletes the 
batch mail.

Okay.  Had a laptop with dual boot XP/fedora which became XP/kubuntu

unit has run solidly until last night.  when you tried to boot up it always 
hung at mup.sys for windows and at the video driver for kubuntu.  googled the 
problem which suggested a virus and i ended up running the recovery dish 
through it.

now however, i keep getting a grub 17 error which i googled and i am suppoed 
to fdisk the drive but dont have a windows disk and no floppy with fdisk so 
am screwed in that dept.  can install kubuntu fine but it doesnt recognise my 
onbaord cd card read/ webcam/ dvd player and other stuff so need the windows.  
any suggestions as to what to do from here or how i can solve it with linux 
which i have access to the net and a 128 mg pendrive.

from what i can gather i just need to reformat the hard drive and reinstall.  
sweet but am between a rock and hard place.
