I think you realise exactly how inappropriate that metaphor is.

I can think of far worse things than top-posting. And I have to admitt 
some peoples attitudes toward it are a little overzealous for my tastes.

I'm not saying bottom posting isnt preferred, just that in some instances 
top-posting is actually not that bad, and certainly if you're replying to 
a top-posted thread you should retain the standard, so that the thread is 
actually followable. (If from the bottom up instead of from the top down!)
