There are a couple of really good tutorials over at Developerworks at
the moment, explaining how to get started hacking the 2.6 kernel:

(For those engaged in the rigorous top-posting debate -- I'm not sure
if this is a top- or bottom-post, but there's this thing called Linux,
pronounced 'Lee-nooks', and these tutorials I mention are vaguely
related to it.) :-).
