Well, you didn't say, and your first response was (deliberately?) 
ambigious so I was only asking. I inferred from what you were saying that 
Gentoo is your distro of choice and you were surprised it had chosen 
ntpdate as it's default.

Ah, interesting. I already knew about -q but had forgotten about it.
