[wellylug] Live CDs

There I was, settled down the with a big bar of chocolate and a bottle of
(diet :-) coke ready to have another go of installing LFS (this time
version 6.0).

Boot the laptop from Knoppix 3.7, start the process (bugger, 'groupadd
lfs' doesn't work, pull out the manual on vi and do it manually, all OK).

'cat /proc/version'

Oh dear, only GCC 2.95. LFS 6 wants kernel 2.6.2 or better and GCC 3.0 or
better. Knoppix 3.7 seems to meet the kernel ok but not GCC.

That's OK, because I have my slackware 10 live cd (GO Slack!!!). Cool,
right version of GCC, but a 2.4.x kernel. Hmm, might have to login to
work later to suck down the 10.1 live CD.

Surely then Fedora 3 is OK, boot to rescue, hmm, seems to stop at loading
/sbin/loader.

Arrrggghhhhh, it was about 2am by the time the coke and sugar rush settled
down so I could go to bed without getting anywhere with the LFS install.

Does anyone have a live CD that uses kernel 2.6.2 or better and use gcc
3.0 or better?

Can you bring it along to the LUG on Monday?

Cheers,

Ian
