The best Webpage to read is at: http://www.debian.org/releases/
This page describes the various releases of Debian. Woody is another 
name for Debian's current "stable" release. Each release of Debian is 
given a codename. Currently:

Stable = Woody
Testing = Sarge
Unstable = Sid

If you're a new user, I'd recommend starting with Woody. This is the 
distribution you'll most commonly find on CD.
