As for the pict I am just f¹~#{[|g ugly on it, but it does show the idea :
Telecine e.g. I reshoot Super 8 mm / R8 mm / 16 mm movies to digital format. 
Thanks to several people who helped me one being Daniel Reurich for the 
electronics.

Everything is Linux based as I said: the firewire control of the camera / 
projector / image processing / compiling / exporting .... the all lot.

Each frame has a resolution of 4 micrometer and about 5 Mb. Ideally I aim to 
shoot he same frame several times to recompose it later for signal / noise 
ratio improvement. But that is for later.... I just spent some money on a 
good cam and I am refurbishing my home made machine. The classic DIY.

Linux is good for this kind of applications as I do not need to spend mega 
bucks on fancy libs of effects. I believe that they are like garden gnomes : 
the less the better
