I just tried Slingshot dialup, and immediately left them. Their
connections were OK, but their service was bad enough I decided I
didn't want to deal with them any more and moved to Orcon. Over a
period of a week (that's how long they give you as a trial, after
which you can get your money back) I spent over 3 hours on hold with
them trying to connect and then disconnect - and had 2 polite people
and 3 rude ones at the other end.
Orcon has had me connected after a total of 20 minutes talking to
them, and I didn't have to go to the post office to pay my bill - they
just connected me and I'll pay by DD later on.
Unfortunately both have a 3-month pay-in-advance policy, but that's not so bad.
I moved from Paradise which has a 28 day payment cycle, which meant I
never knew when my payment was going to come out of my account, as
well as fitting an extra billing month into the year. They also only
gave me 250 hours instead of a true flat rate - which I admittidly
never reached but it was often on my mind.

Anyway, all this is only dialup, so possibly doesn't help too much
with regard to ADSL connections.
