I guess that I forgot to mention that my Mum and Dad also need to be able to
control it.

I would be fine with a CLI player, Mum and Dad wouldn't be.  :-(

I'll give mpg321 a go and see if I can get it to compile on my system.

mpg321 for instance is a command-line player
