The advantage of doing this with a new computer is that you (probably) don't
_have_ any data to backup :-)
Oh, one gotcha: If you ever do reformat/reinstall, make sure you install Windows
before you install Linux (because, IME, Windows doesn't like bootloaders like
GRUB or Lilo).
