Why not just take the opportunity to repartition from scratch?
Its not like Windows doesn't benefit from reinstallation every couple of 
years.

'Sides as you learn its often handy to be able to 
start-as-you-mean-to-go-on, tidy up your installs, your installed apps, 
legacy folders, rah rah

I've never edited a live partition, and don't see myself trying it 
anytime soon.  Funny i've never lost a partition either =)
