It appears that you don't know Brent at all.  To him even
MS products have their place, and the reference to the
MSN most likely means that they have chat-rooms
notice boards where "everything goes".

Democracy and freedom of speech don't mean that every
individual can do whatever he wants.  It's still governed by
certain unwritten rules and explicit laws and by-laws.  And
that's valid in society as well as in a Mircocosm like a LUG.
If you want to do whatever you feel is right (or just plain 
suits you) you should probably live on an deserted island
all by yourself.  

Just compare the LUG list (since it's hosted by him) to
Ewen's lounge.  I'm sure that he wouldn't like you pissing on
his curtains, no matter how right you feel about it, and chances
are that most other guests (unless socially totally dysfunctional
[by nature or alcohol induced]) would agree that he's in the
right in telling you off for it, and not just being a bad sport,
holier than holy or a bore.
