I used it back in the 2.0 days (1999!) and it wasn't too bad. Good
things come out of it quite often, and it doesn't have any
dependancies like VB, and is as fast as anything else - it's compiled
to native code, not interpreted BASIC. It's much like VB in syntax -
you can convert VB stuff to RB with little work - and offers a wide
range of controls. These days it uses native widgets, back in v1.0
days it used its own, quite amusing :P It was Mac only then as well,
so it wasn't too bad.
It requires GTK+2.0, Glibc-2.3 and CUPS on Linux. If you can meet that
I would recommend RB.
It is commercial, but it's fairly cheap. There's a demo as well.
You'll need the Pro version for cross-compilation, it's US$400.
There's also a system called Revolution that I remember. I have no
idea where to get it from or if it's free or not. Google may help.
