No. If you're already running XP it will simply provide browse access to 
the contents of the CD. So you can quite safely use Nero or similar to 
copy the image on the CD.

On the other hand if you reboot the machine from the CD, it will boot 
and run Mepis Linux from the CD. To kick off the installation process 
you then have to choose to run the Mepis Installation Center from the 
desktop or menus, and then work through the installation wizard.
