Just found this project http://www.ndiyo.org/

It's very similar to the SunRay design as it's an "Ultra-Thin Client" 
rather than your LTSP or Citrix style "Thin Client" design.

There's a good presentation on there for those interested in this 
technology.

They are developing this on an Ubuntu base.
