Where <EDITOR> is your preferred editor, e.g. nano, vim, emacs, etc, type:

<EDITOR> ~/.profile

E.g:  nano ~/.profile
       emacs ~/.profile

Or if you're using a GUI editor or something strange, just save as 
.profile in your home directory (/home/username).
