At the risk of raising the ire of those suggesting a Linux/LAN solution, a
simple hardware solution (like the KVM box) may be simplest. I've used a few,
with no problems.

I haven't tried the Dick Smith one, I'd get you the reference on their web
site, but it is down right now. From memory $20-30 (most are more expensive, so
I don't know how good the DSE one is). Plug each computer into the box & the
printer into the shared port. Simple & reliable approach (just more cables) in
my experience.
