I'm currently running PCLinuxOs on my laptop and alls running fine
using a 2.6.10 kernel but I noticed they had a 2.6.11 kernel in their
repository so I thought I'd give it a try. When I boot the 2.6.11
kernel it can no longer see my network card. The last line of an lspci
on the 2.6.10 kernel is: 01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek
Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)
but this line is missing when I do an lspci on the 2.6.11 kernel. The
8139too module is getting loaded at boot time. As an experiment I
installed PCLinuxOs on another PC that uses the same driver for it's
network card and installed the new kernel and then created a livecd
using the 2.6.11 kernel. The funny thing is I can then run the livecd
on my laptop and the network card works - ahha, I thought, so I
installed from the new livecd to my laptops hard drive only to find
when I rebooted my nic had gone AWL again. Any ideas on things to
check?
