Should read
//jessie/music /mnt/jessie-music smbfs
username=mitchell,password=<password>,user 0 0
The user part specifies that one need not be in the root group to mount

fixed! (kind of)
I've fixed the problem with a kinda-nasty solution with sudo, but it
works fine for 1 user.
the only problem is not any user can just mount it. :-( However, it's a
1 user machine so it's not too much of a problem.
