I was under the impression that the ndiswrapper was an option of last
resort if a native Linux driver was not available.  The RT2x00 project
provides an open source Linux driver for cards based on the ralink
chipsets:

I have a card based on the rt2500 and had no problems getting this
driver to work (the same card doesn't work for me under Windows XP).

You could try: ftp.nz.debian.org, but access may depend on your ISP's
