[wellylug] XMMS problem

Hi all, I have been unable to get XMMS working properly. When I tried to play a song under a normal account user, it says: can't open audio please check that:
1. The sound card is working properly
2. That you have selected the correct output plugins
3. That nothing else is blocking the sound card
Sometimes it gives the error: can't use OSS driver 1.210. Under a normal account user I can't play the audio file with XMMS at all, under the root user XMMS gives me the same error messages, but if I wait 1/2 a second and then try playing the file, it works. This does not seem to be a core audio problem because other mp3 players are working fine. Also the automatic sounds that play in KDE play fine. I have checked and re-checked the audio plugin list under XMMS and the correct plugins seem to be selected.

I was wondering if one of you could come out and visit me one night to help solve this problem, preferably tomorrow but any other night is fine, which ever night you come out it would have to be a night on which the weather is fine, this is because I have a phobia of getting wet and I don't like people coming near me or my computer after they have been out in the rain, if you could come out tomorrow night it would be perfect because the weather forecast is for a fine day. I live on 11 Messines Rd, Karori in a complex called Maddison. Maddison is a complex in which physically disabled people live, it is next to Sprott House. You will see big black gates and two signs saying Maddison. To find me you must walk across the car park until you see two automatic doors to your left, walk through these doors and go down the corridor to your right. My room is number 4.

Cheers
Steve
